What Excel to PDF does

Converting Excel to PDF means turning an XLS or XLSX spreadsheet into fixed pages that anyone can open, read and print without Excel. Wispdf does it on our servers, because laying out cells, fonts and page breaks properly takes a real rendering engine. Turn on fit to width and wide sheets scale to the page instead of spilling columns onto extra pages.

People use it to

  • Send a client a quote or budget they can read but can't accidentally edit
  • Print a class timetable without the last columns falling off the edge
  • Email a team shift schedule that opens properly on everyone's phone

Fit to width

Wide sheets scale down to the page width, so the last columns don't get cut off or pushed to a page of their own.

Questions about Excel to PDF

How many Excel files can I convert to PDF for free?
Excel to PDF has a free daily allowance: 2 tasks a day without an account, 3 with a free account, for files up to 50 MB. It is unlimited with Pro or a 7-Day Pass. Pro comes with a 7-day free trial and no card, and a 7-Day Pass is $9, paid once, and never renews.
Where does my spreadsheet go when I convert it?
Your spreadsheet goes to our servers, because turning Excel layouts and fonts into a faithful PDF needs a real rendering engine that a browser lacks. Excel to PDF encrypts the file on the way, converts it, and deletes it within an hour. Nobody at Wispdf looks at your numbers.
How do I stop Excel columns getting cut off in the PDF?
Turn on fit to width in Excel to PDF before you convert. Wispdf then scales the sheet so every column fits across the page, instead of pushing the last few onto a page of their own. Very wide sheets end up printed smaller, so check that the text is still easy to read.
Will my formulas still work in the PDF?
No. A PDF shows the values your formulas produced at the moment you converted, as fixed text on the page. That is often the point, since nobody can change the numbers by accident. Keep the original Excel file for edits, and run it through Excel to PDF again whenever it changes.
Can I use Excel to PDF on a Mac or Chromebook?
Yes. Excel to PDF runs in any modern browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad and Android. You do not need Excel installed, and there is no app to download. The conversion itself happens on our servers, so your laptop or phone doesn't have to do the heavy lifting.
Can I convert a CSV file to PDF here?
Excel to PDF takes XLS and XLSX files. For a CSV file, use Other Files to PDF, which handles CSV along with OpenDocument spreadsheets (ODS), plain text and a few other formats. It also runs on our servers, follows the same free daily allowance, and deletes your file within an hour.
