How your file stays with you.

Most Wispdf tools never upload anything. When a tool does need our servers or AI, it is labeled before you start. Here is exactly what each label means.

Four labels, no fine print.

Every tool page shows one of these next to the file picker.

Check it yourself.

You don't have to take our word for it. Here is a two-minute test.

  1. Open an on-device tool

For example Merge PDF or Compress PDF.

  2. Turn off your internet

Switch off Wi-Fi or turn on airplane mode once the page has loaded.

  3. Run the tool

Drop your files and press the button. It still works, because nothing needs to be sent.

  4. Look closer if you like

Open your browser's developer tools and watch the Network panel while the tool runs.

About the upload counter

Tool pages show "Uploads from this page". It counts requests the page makes to any address other than the code and font libraries it loads, starting when the page opens. For on-device tools it stays at 0.

How we check it.

"On your device" is a promise we verify with automated checks in real browsers, not a line we wrote once.

  • The network assertion

For every live on-device tool, an automated check opens the tool page in a real browser, adds an ordinary file and runs the tool. It records every request the page and its workers make while the file is processed, and fails on any request to another site or any request carrying more than 1 KB.

  • Three browser engines

The checks run in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit, the engines behind Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, so a tool is checked the way you are likely to use it.

  • The Privacy Monitor you see

When a tool finishes, its page shows "Network requests while processing" with a count. The automated check also reads that count and fails unless it is 0, so the number on your screen is the same one we verify.

  • What it covers

The check covers every tool labeled On your device. Tools that run on our servers or use AI carry their own label before you start, and say what they send and how long it is kept.

What leaves your device, and for how long

LabelWhat leaves your deviceHow long we keep it
On your deviceNothingNothing to keep
On your device firstNothing, unless you agree to use our servers for a big jobIf you agree, deleted within an hour
On our serversThe file, encrypted in transitDeleted within an hour. Request signatures keeps a document until everyone has signed.

Questions about privacy

How do I know a tool really runs on my device?
Load the tool page, then turn off your Wi-Fi or switch on airplane mode. Drop your file and run the tool. If it finishes, nothing could have been sent. You can also watch your browser's Network panel while the tool runs.
What happens to files sent to your servers?
Files sent to our servers are encrypted in transit, processed, and deleted within one hour. Nobody looks at them. Request signatures is the one exception: a document waiting for signatures stays until everyone has signed.
What does "on your device first" mean?
These tools run in your browser. For very large or unusual files, they may offer to use our servers instead, and they always ask before sending anything.
What do AI tools send?
AI tools send extracted text (not the file) to our AI model. Text is never used to train models. Chats from visitors without an account are deleted after 24 hours; account holders choose how long chats are kept and can delete them any time.
How does Wispdf prove that on-device tools never upload my file?
Every live on-device tool has an automated check that runs it with an ordinary file in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit. The check records every network request the page makes while it works and fails on any request to another site or carrying more than 1 KB. It also confirms the Privacy Monitor on the page reads 0.
Do I need an account?
No. Every free tool works without an account. A free account adds more daily server tasks and AI credits.
