Questions about Scan to PDF

Is Scan to PDF free?
Yes. Scan to PDF is free and unlimited, and you do not need an account. Scan as many pages and documents as you like. Because everything runs on your device, the only practical limit is your phone's memory, so a very long scanning session may work better as a few PDFs that you combine later with Merge PDF.
Do I need to install a scanning app?
No. Scan to PDF uses your phone's camera through your browser, so it works on iPhone, iPad and Android without an app. The first time, your browser asks permission to use the camera. Say yes to start scanning. You can also choose photos you already took instead of using the camera.
Are my scans uploaded anywhere?
No. Scan to PDF handles the camera images inside your browser, on your device. The photos and the finished PDF are never sent to our servers. That is useful for documents like passports, medical forms and bank letters, which you may not want stored on someone else's computer.
How do I get the cleanest scan?
Put the page on a flat, darker surface so the edges stand out, and use even light without strong shadows. Hold the phone straight above the paper and keep it steady. Scan to PDF finds the edges and straightens the page for you, but a sharp, well-lit photo still gives the clearest result.
Can I scan several pages into one PDF?
Yes. Scan to PDF lets you capture page after page and then puts them all into a single PDF. It is handy for multi-page forms, contracts and stacks of receipts. If you need to change the order or take out a page afterward, open the file in Organize PDF.
Will my scanned PDF be searchable?
Scan to PDF saves pictures of your pages, so the words are not yet text you can search or copy. To make the file searchable, run it through OCR PDF, which recognizes the text. Documents of up to 10 pages are handled right in your browser, free and without an account.
