Questions about Unlock PDF

Is Unlock PDF free?
Yes. Unlock PDF is free and unlimited, with no account needed. Because it runs on your device, there is no limit on how many files you can open and no daily cap. The only practical limit is your device's memory, which handles around 1 GB of PDFs comfortably on a computer and less on a phone.
I forgot the password. Can Wispdf open my PDF?
No. Unlock PDF only removes a password you already know, and Wispdf never guesses or cracks passwords. If you have lost it, ask the person or company that sent you the file. The email or letter that came with it may also explain the password. If you made the file yourself, check your password manager.
Does my PDF get uploaded when I remove the password?
No. Unlock PDF works inside your browser on your own device. The PDF and the password you type are never sent to our servers, so there is nothing for us to store or delete. That makes it a sensible choice for bank statements, payslips and other files that hold personal details.
Can Unlock PDF remove printing and copying restrictions?
Yes, when you have the right to. Some PDFs open freely but block printing or copying text. Unlock PDF asks you to confirm that you are allowed to remove those limits before it does. Please only do this for files you own or have permission to change, such as your own documents or files the owner has cleared.
Does removing the password change my PDF?
Unlock PDF only takes the password away and saves a new copy. The pages, text and images are not edited. Your original locked file is left as it was, so you still have it if you need it later. If you want to add a fresh password afterward, use Protect PDF, which also runs on your device.
Can I remove a PDF password on a Mac, Windows PC or phone?
Yes. Unlock PDF works in any modern browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad and Android. There is nothing to install. Open the page, choose the locked file, type the password you know and save the open copy. On a phone, very large files reach the memory limit sooner than they would on a computer.
